Jones Valley Resort caters to a fantastic time on Lake Shasta. I have been houseboating on Lake Shasta for four decades, and have been to many resorts. Over time, some have merged or gone out of business during droughts, so this is the first time I’ve been to Jones Valley Resort. The houseboats are similar to other houseboats I have been on, but what stood out is that the bed was very comfortable and the refrigerators and freezers really worked. All of the staff was very accommodating and despite a forest fire limiting our access to some good skiing water, we still had a fantastic time. However, Jones Resort has something that goes above and beyond any resort I have been to. I’ve spent decades hauling my stuff into crates and pulling it downhill to load on the houseboat, and uphill on the way out, even when it was 110°. Jones Valley has a staff that literally takes this miserable task off your plate. Nothing is more depressing than having to end a beautiful week on Lake Shasta, other than the unloading process. It’s depressing, miserably hot, and you can’t even jump in the lake anymore to cool off. Just as they took everything out of my car to load it onto the houseboat, they put it all back in my car wherever I wanted when we departed, and they did it rapidly with their team of friendly employees with UTVs and trailers. Another sweet thing for me was that they went out of their way to help me with my ski boat that wouldn’t start. We had a few personal challenges this trip and they were there and ready to help. I am grateful for that, and eager to come back next year!
